ABOUT GAIT ANALYSIS

Gait Analysis at Cowes

Gait Analysis allows us to look more closely at the way your feet and lower body move when you walk.

Using dynamic Footscan® technology, we can assess how pressure is distributed through your feet and identify differences in your walking pattern that may be affecting movement elsewhere in the body.

GAIT ANALYSIS

What is Gait Analysis?

Gait analysis is an assessment of the way you walk and how your feet interact with the ground.

As you walk across the Footscan® pressure plate, the technology records how your feet load, move and transfer pressure. This gives your practitioner detailed information about your individual movement pattern and can help identify areas of imbalance or unusual loading.

Because the feet form the foundation for movement, changes in the way you walk can sometimes contribute to discomfort further up the body, including the ankles, knees, hips and back.

Gait Analysis can help assess

• Foot and heel pain
• Ankle discomfort
• Knee pain
• Hip or lower back discomfort
• Uneven foot pressure or loading
• Walking or running concerns
• Recurring lower-limb problems
• Whether foot orthotics may be suitable

What to expect

• A discussion about your symptoms, activity and concerns
• An assessment of your feet and movement
• Dynamic Footscan® analysis while you walk
• A review of your foot pressure and loading patterns
• An explanation of the findings
• Advice on appropriate next steps, which may include exercises, footwear guidance or foot orthotics
